As part of the PharmagoraPlus fair which was held on April 7 and 8, Le Moniteur des pharmacies, Direct Medica, Egora and Medappcare exclusively presented the results of their 2018 Barometers for pharmacists and smart health connected physicians. Presentation.

Direct Medica, Le Moniteur des pharmacies, Egora.com and Medappcare publish the 2018 Barometers of the smart health connected Pharmacist (5th edition) and the smart health connected Doctor (2nd edition) around mobile health applications.

More than three-quarters of pharmacists (78%) and more than half of doctors (58%) are ready to use a touch pad during their patient appointments. Similarly, the downloading of health applications for professional use is well established among doctors (78.3%) and pharmacists (60%), with a notable increase (+ 5 points) observed among the latter compared to 2017.

Another lesson: about half of the pharmacists (46.5%) and doctors (57.9%) who were interviewed believe that mobile health applications bring a benefit to the health of their patients. About a third of pharmacists (28%) and doctors (33.3%) even say they are ready to recommend them to their patients. However, given the increasing number of mobile applications to download from stores, healthcare professionals do not know which ones to advise. This is why, healthcare professionals are in favor of the evaluation of mobile applications by independent organizations for 58% of pharmacists and 54.2% of doctors in order to be able to recommend them more.

Continuing on from 2017, the Barometers show a relatively low level of confidence regarding the very high stake linked to the security of health data. Pharmacists and doctors are rather inclined to use patient data, at 56% and 57.8% respectively. And, almost 60% of those in favor of their use see an interest in improving compliance.
