50 billion objects will be smart health connected to the Internet by 2020
IoT> 50 billion devices will be smart health connected to the Internet by 2020! This is what a report by Cisco and DHL suggests.
the IoT or Internet of Things continues to unleash passions. DHL and Cisco Consulting Services are working together on an innovative project to improve decision-making in warehouse operations.
This project aims to exploit the data produced by Wi-Fi smart health connected devices in real time. In a report entitled "Internet of Things in Logistics", DHL Express CEO Ken Allen explains: "At Deutsche Post DHL, we firmly believe to the positive powers of world trade. However, as revealed by our 2014 Global Connectivity Index (1), the overall level of global connectivity remains surprisingly limited. Countries have enormous potential at hand to improve their connectivity and prosper through trade, integration and technology. We believe that the Internet of Things will be a key factor in this global transformation. "
According to this IoT-oriented report, 50 billion devices will be smart health connected to the Internet by 2020. Namely: today 15 billion objects are already smart health connected worldwide. For Cisco it would represent a value of 8000 billion dollars! The breakdown would be as follows: $ 2.1 trillion for innovation and revenue, $ 2.1 trillion for asset utilization, $ 1900 billion for the supply chain and logistics, $ 1.2 trillion for improving employee productivity and finally $ 900 billion to improve the consumer and citizen experience.
The interest in a company like DHL is therefore major. This would allow it to significantly improve its operational efficiency; in terms of logistics, storage, security and even the optimization and monetization of trips.
