A bottle that purifies water using UV rays causes a sensation on Kickstarter
On Kickstarter, a reusable water bottle that purifies itself on its own thanks to UV rays is buzzing on the crowdfunding platform. In just one month of campaigning, the QUARTZ project raised 600% of the initial amount requested.
The observation is simple: 663 million of people live in the world without potable water. Justin Wang launched a Kickstarter campaign in early October to fund a reusable smart health connected water bottle project that purifies water and cleans itself at the touch of a button.
The QUARTZ bottle eliminates 99.9% of bacteria present in water thanks to UV light emission. The aim is also to end the growing waste of plastic bottles that pollute both the land and the sea. Each second, 20,000 plastic bottles are used worldwide. Launched in early October, the project has already brought together 600% of the initial amount requested, is $ 200,000 with over 2000 contributors at the time of writing this article. If you want to support the project, there are still 29 days of campaign. You will have to pay a minimum of $ 59 to pre-order the product.
60 seconds only to purify water, the project explodes on Kickstarter
The bottle purifies the water and cleans itself 4 times a day. Add to that that it is possible to fill it in and purify the water in it in 60 seconds by pressing only the button at the top of the thermostat. Compared to other water purification solutions, QUARTZ seems to have it all. No filter to change, a battery that lasts more than two months without recharging, no mercury or pollutants in its composition and above all, the QUARTZ bottle is guaranteed plastic-free.
It can hold up to half a liter of liquid, it resists shocks thanks to its metal frame and weighs only 0.37 Kg. Design level, according to the videos of presentations, it is rather pretty and comes in four colors, blue, black, white and pink.
To note that 1% of the company's profits are donated to Water, an association that fights for access to drinking water all over the world.
