a digital health booklet on stickers

After a trip to the United States, where she discovered "medical identification bracelets", seduced by the idea, Vanessa Bianconi chose to import it to France.

The thirty-something will nevertheless touch it up to make it "less stigmatizing". For this, she created the start-up Capsul Protect in 2015 with Jessym Reziga.

The company is developing a "digital health book". If there are several dozen on the market, that of young Corsican shoots offers original transportable supports.

Concretely, thanks to contactless technology (NFC), Capsul Protect – which takes the form of a sticker to stick on a bicycle or motorcycle helmet for example, medallions to hang on a bag or card to slide into the wallet – allows you to carry your personal and medical data everywhere.

The mobile application "which will be ready in the second quarter of 2020" will contain a personal space, a directory of the user's doctors and will offer several services such as reminders of vaccinations.

"The user chooses himself the data which he wishes to inform and who can access it", detailed Vanessa Bianconi. "In an emergency, relatives are quickly notified by text following the scan of the capsule which also indicates geolocation. "

"A simple contact with the capsule or the QR code will bring up a medical file which brings together all the information necessary for emergency medical care", she added.

All holders of a smartphone equipped with NFC technology or a QR code reader application will not, however, be able to access all the information provided by the holders of the capsule.

"There are two levels of access to information. The user chooses himself if he allows everyone to access this or that information or all, and what data he wants to share with health professionals We are currently working on the installation of an authentication module for healthcare professionals ", explained Vanessa Bianconi.

"Health data is stored at a certified health data host (HDS)," she said.

A business plan in development

To get started, the start-up incubated at Station F (Paris) by the Brain and Spinal Cord Institute (ICM) and within the Red Cross "N21" incubator in Montrouge (Hauts-com -Seine), first counted on the equity of its founders, a FrenchTech grant and a small turnover reinvested.

Capsul Protect addresses its offers to individuals but also to companies, which can equip their employees, and to mutuals which can offer the solution to their members, "whose offer would be included in their subscription".

The economic model of society is "under development".

The Corsican start-up previously offered an annual subscription of 30 euros per user subscriber via an online store, but it "is working on revaluing" its commercial offer.

"We are going to propose new rates in b-to-b (business to business) and in b-to-c (business to consumer) from the first quarter of 2020, "said Vanessa Bianconi.

Ultimately, society would see itself working well with public authorities. "We offer a solution to facilitate access to the DMP," noted the co-founder of the start-up.

In the meantime, Capsul Protect, which has five employees, is already working on the "future improvements" of its platform.

"We are working with the users who are testing the solution and with emergency and emergency personnel to bring up everyone's needs and update the platform," concluded Vanessa Bianconi.
