a free software to help with the writing of the initial certificate

[ad_1]

According to the law, a medical certificate must be drawn up within 24 hours of the admission of a psychiatric patient without his consent, regardless of the mode of admission, and another within 72 hours.

The Judges of Detention and Freedoms (JLD) rely on these documents to maintain or order the release of the measure, and their content is the subject of many appeals, note it. In March 2018, the Haute Autorité com Santé (HAS) published a "memo sheet" to help with the drafting of certificates.

The F2RSM Psy Hauts-com-France offers Cert'In *, a software "free and open access", which "allows the clinician to write rigorously the initial medical certificate of a measure of psychiatric care without consent without any knowledge on the legislation, "she argues.

"The widespread use of this software could help improve practices and guarantee patients' rights through strict adherence to the procedures for setting up psychiatric care without consent," she says.

More specifically, this software "offers assistance to the practitioner by automating the drafting of an initial medical certificate, adapting it to the situation and meeting all the requirements of the law", irrespective of the procedure : psychiatric care at the request of a third party (SPDT), emergency SPDT, psychiatric care in imminent danger, psychiatric care at the request of a representative of the state (SPDRE), SPDRE with imminent danger for the safety of people and SPDRE for people in prison.

Ensure the right indication of care without consent

The interface of the software, described as "very simple", thus makes it possible to produce a valid initial certificate for a given clinical situation, after the user has entered "successively a certain amount of information (information relating to the patient and clinical description , information about the doctor, date and place of writing the certificate, etc.) ".

This information "makes it possible to ensure the indication of psychiatric care without consent for the clinical situation concerned", to "choose the measure of psychiatric care without consent adapted to the clinical situation without any knowledge a priori of the law" .

The certificate can then be downloaded either in PDF format or in doc format, "which allows for additional modifications if necessary".

"None of the information entered is saved by the software, which is integrated directly into the product document and made available to the user," it says.

This software was developed by F2RSM Psy Hauts-com-France, Lille University Hospital (Thomas Fovet, Mathilde Horn, Pierre Thomas, Guillaume Vaiva and Ali Amad), Lille-Métropole public health institution (EPSM) ( Valériane Dujardin) as well as Pierre-Ugo Desmarets for the computer development, is it indicated on the page dedicated to the software on the website of the federation.
