A Google Assistant microwave? Why not, but what is it for?
"Hey, Google, make me dinner. This scenario is about to become reality thanks to the first Google Assistant microwave unveiled by Google at CES 2019.
But this Google Assistant microwave isn't the only one using this voice assistant. The company has confirmed that the billion devices on which its PDA is already installed is just the start. Google will continue to install Google Assistant on an even larger number of devices; in particular thanks to Google Assistant Connect. This could allow Google Assistant to use microwaves, E Ink screens, etc.
The new platform will allow device manufacturers to quickly and easily integrate Google Assistant with products; paving the way for a wave of dozens of different devices, all with voice control, without having to worry about the technology itself.
"Google Assistant Connect uses the existing Smart health home platform to expand to new types of devices while simplifying device configuration and discovery"; states Google.
Presenting its vision for the future, Google used CES to unveil a prototype E-Ink screen to project the weather or your next appointment on a screen. The information would be retrieved from the Connection Wizard on a nearby smart speaker.
"Google Assistant manages high-level computing: knowing the contents of the calendar, checking for updates, etc. Explains the company.
Although it does not plan to market its device itself, the company hopes that device manufacturers will be inspired; and that they will populate this technology when they see what they can do.
Google Assistant already works with more than 10,000 smart devices. During CES, he partnered with a number of companies; including Whirlpool, August and Kitchen Aid, to market products such as smart health connected dishwashers, wine refrigerators, garden sprinklers and thermostats.
CES 2019 continues to witness a spate of appliances ranging from toilets to stoves to televisions. All are supported by Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
Google also took advantage of its press conference at CES to announce a number of other new features in Google Assistant; including a new smart clock. This clock, I told you about it recently, it is the Lenovo Smart Clock.
