The French Withings took advantage of Pepcom on the sidelines of the CES in Las Vegas to formalize a new sensor of physical activity. Called Withings Go, it has the particularity of having an E-Ink screen, and therefore be significantly less expensive than the other activity trackers of the brand.

Neither smart health connected bracelet nor smart health connected watch, the Withings Go is an unusual activity sensor.

After the smart health connected thermometer Withings, this is the second product officialized by the French at the beginning of the year. Like many competitors, Withings finally released an entry-level physical activity sensor to complement its premium offer, which is smart health connected to the Activity, Steel Activity and Pop activity smart health connected watches.

The new Withings Go has the particularity of having a screen in E-Ink, which is not only much cheaper, but also much less energy consuming. This does not prevent it from being lit permanently, allowing its owner to visualize its performance in real time, and under any conditions: in full sun, in the rain, or even under water – it is fully waterproof. At the level of autonomy, Withings announces 8 months of independencethanks to a classic button cell that can be easily replaced.

The Withings Go does not skimp on measurements

As for the recorded measures, the Withings Go tracks the usual physical activity (walking, running), but also swimming, as well as sleep. No need to notify the sensor that we change activity, everything is detected automatically. A simple touch allows the user to display the various information on the sensor screen. The dial can also be transformed into a classic analog watch. So many premium features at a much more affordable price, which should definitely crack the undecided.

The information recorded by the activity sensor is then sent to the manufacturer's Health Mate app. Available for free on iOS and Android, it is one of the most advanced and intuitive on the market: a dashboard and more detailed charts to see the evolution over time. It is also compatible with the Apple data aggregator (HealthKit) as well as 150 other partners (MyFitnessPal …). For those who own several products of the brand (tensiometer, scale), the data are all aggregated on this Withings application.

The Release of Withings Go is scheduled for the first quarter of 2016, with a price of 69.95 €. The sensor can be worn either as a bracelet, clipped to the belt, or directly into a pocket – which is reminiscent of the latest Misfit Shine 2 which is a real success. More colors will be available at the time of marketing.
