a new smart health connected bracelet for everyday life
[ad_1]
A few weeks ago, Adidas announced its intention to withdraw from the smart health connected watch market. In reality, it seems that this withdrawal concerns only sports wearables. The company is currently developing a new smart health connected bracelet called Chameleon, designed to be worn every day and emphasizing personalization. Likewise, a new All Day application would be launched simultaneously.
German Adidas recently decided to withdraw from the market for smart health connected GPS running watches. However, the firm does not leave the wearable market so far. The sports giant is currently developing the Chameleon, a new smart health connected bracelet designed to follow the user on a daily basis.
Rumor has it, the Chameleon will be able to follow sports activity, health conditions and quality of sleep. It would also carry a screen of the e-paper type with low energy consumption rather than an LED matrix.
Adidas Chameleon, a bracelet for everyday life
We ignore whether it will integrate a heart monitoring, GPS or other physical sensors. It seems that the Chameleon is designed to be worn daily throughout the day. No price is communicated for the moment.
It will be a fashion accessory, customizable, available in many different colors, and in particular with metallic finishes. This bracelet could be closer to a Fitbit bracelet design than previous Adidas wearables. Unfortunately, no image is available at this time. The images in this article are from the miCoach Fit Smart which has recently been updated.
A customizable bracelet designed for everyone
With this accessory, Adidas uses its popular brand image to target both athletes and a wider customer base. This product therefore fits perfectly into the spirit of the Adidas brand. This is also the strategy also discussed by Fitbit CEO James Park at the IFA.
Already used by Adidas for its running shoes, the name Chameleon refers to the personalization possibilities offered by this bracelet. Stacey Burr, Adidas’s vice president for wearables and electronic sports accessories, said it is now essential to seek to stand out in the smart health connected devices market by assessing the strengths of the company.
All day
Besides this bracelet, Adidas presents All Day, a new application dedicated to activity and well-being monitoring. Like the Chameleon, this application tracks user performance.
Last year, Adidas spent 220 million euros to buy Runtastic, and no doubt plans to use this base to develop its platform. We ignore for the moment the date of marketing and the price of Chameleon, as well as the launch date of the All Day application.
