The Swimsense Live bracelet, designed by the Californian Finis, is the new version of the Swimsense. Designed for swimmers, this accessory offers complete monitoring of the different types of swimming.
The Californian company Finis has just lifted the veil on its new Swimsense Live smart health connected bracelet. This new accessory is a direct heir to the first Swimsense, an activity tracker entirely dedicated to swimmers. According to Finis, this new model is however much more precise and efficient than the previous one.

As an improvement, Swimsense Live offers more accurate tracking, new swimming-related data, and Bluetooth synchronization for real-time results. The whole is embedded in a smart health connected accessory presenting a brand new design of the most pleasant.
Of course, Swimsense Live is fully waterproof and has IPX8 certification. However, it seems that this seal is only suitable for fresh water in swimming pools, and cannot resist salt water from the oceans. On this point, the device is therefore less advantageous than the new Fitbit Flex 2.
New data for comprehensive analysis
Among the new data related to swimming, there are the count of the lengths performed, the interval times, the number of movements performed, the distance traveled per movement, the amount of calories burned and the SWOLF efficiency score.
According to its creator Finis, Swimsense Live uses proprietary algorithms to identify and record intervals and distance. The device is capable of analyzing four types of swimming: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. It is not known, however, whether the bracelet automatically detects the type of swimming practiced or whether it is necessary to enter the information manually.
OLED screen and mobile app to view data
The Swimsense Live OLED screen allows the user to view up to five statistics in real time. The displayed statistics are customizable. Otherwise, the accessory can store up to 14 training sessions. To view the data in detail, it is however necessary to consult the Finis Live companion application.
This application can monitoring multiple Finished devices simultaneously. The data collected can be downloaded on platforms like Swim.com, TrainingPeaks, RunKeeper, SportTrack, or 2PEAK.
Reduced autonomy compared to the first model
Faced with this performance increase, the autonomy of Live is less consistent than that of the previous model. The device can now hold seven hours between each charge, instead of twelve hours for the initial model.
Swimsense Live is available now for $ 179.99. The companion smartphone app can be downloaded from Google Play and iTunes. It is not known whether French marketing is planned by Finis.
