A smart health connected crib to help your baby sleep better
health home automation is also suitable for newborns. The proof with the Snoo smart health connected cradle imagined and designed by Yves Béhar. This invention could well revolutionize the lives of babies and their parents.
Snoo was unveiled by Californian startup Happiest Baby. It is a collaboration between Yves Béhar (from Jawbone, Hive, XO fame) and his studio Fuseproject. Product development will have taken no less than five years. It is intended for babies up to six months old.
Equipped with several microphones and integrated sensors, these can detect when a baby is crying or when he is moving; and therefore he’s awake. At that time, the cradle will begin to swing at the speed predefined by the parents to allow the baby to fall asleep. For added security, the system will only switch on if the child is bundled up in his cotton blanket. This system is supposed to reproduce the mother's uterus.
The cradle is also equipped with a loudspeaker so that you can emit white noise to facilitate falling asleep. Everything works over Wi-Fi and worried parents can see what's happening in the next room on a screen. Obviously, the Wi-Fi connection can be activated and deactivated. The whole thing works hand in hand with a smartphone application which makes it possible to monitoring the sleeping habits of the newborn. As you can see, this invention is just as beneficial for the sleep of children as it is of parents.
Happiest Baby was created by pediatrician Harvey Karp. He has notably written a book on how to calm babies' cries. As for the price, hang on, because you will have to pay the tidy sum of 1160 euros to install one at health home. Is it the price of quiet nights and restful sleep? Your turn to judge !
