The French start-up Wair has developed a smart health connected scarf that protects its user from air pollution. This first smart health connected anti-pollution scarf allows you both to protect yourself from pollutants in the air, but also to be alerted to air quality. After successfully carrying out a crowfunding campaign, the smart health connected scarf will be on sale from spring 2017.

Urban pollution is a real and often overlooked scourge. The World Health Organization (WHO) has sounded the alarm and published overwhelming figures on this major public health problem. According to the organization, air pollution responsible for 7 million premature deaths per year. This invisible killer is responsible for lung, heart, vascular and cancer diseases.

An innovative smart health connected anti-pollution scarf

It was the French start-up Wair that developed this smart health connected scarf that does not compromise either with efficiency or with aesthetics. As we have already mentioned, the ergonomic scarf developed by the Lyon-based company can filter out all particles larger than 0.1 micrometer. It thus filters 99% of polluting gases but also pollens and bacteria present in the air. Note however that it is necessary to regularly replace the system filter in order to guarantee effective protection.

This scarf does not only conceal an efficient air filtration system. The material is also smart health connected and offers, through an application, to know the pollution rate where you are. An alert system alerts you when the pollution level exceeds a certain threshold and it is better to wear your scarf on your nose. The application also allows you to stay informed and find the least polluted route. A sensor on the scarf also indicates, by its color, whether an air pollution threshold has been exceeded and whether it is therefore preferable to wear the scarf.

A smart health connected scarf for the 92% who breathe polluted air

The Wair smart health connected scarf has been developed and designed for the 92% of the world's population who live in a polluted environment. Ideal for cyclists who pedal in the middle of traffic, it is however suitable for pedestrians as well as for sportsmen or users of a two-wheeler in big cities. The company does not say, however, whether the protection system also works for tear gas used by the police during certain demonstrations …

The Wair smart health connected scarf is also a fashion accessory. The filtration system, available in 3 sizes, is cleverly concealed in the fabric and the company will offer fabrics of various colors and prints made from eco-certified materials.
