a surprising all-terrain vehicle with camera integrated in the boxes?

Between the lunar off-road and the Tumbler, the Batmobile from Christopher Nolan's films. The next creation signed DJI would therefore not join his stooges in the air but would be well anchored on earth. Like his Robot Master S1. Several patents published by the competent Chinese national office have been identified by our colleagues from DroneDJ and clearly show a vehicle with four wheels, fitted with suspensions and surmounted by a camera mounted on a ball joint with several axes.

As with any patent publication, it should be recalled that no technical characteristics are given, nor the details of the parts used.

You have beautiful tires!

According to the patent, the four large wheels of the vehicle would be equipped with tires allowing it to face several types of topographies. No front or rear steering bar to steer the vehicle, all the wheels would be mounted on axes allowing them to pivot to turn the vehicle, much like the system used on the Robot Master.

The engine should be up to move such a machine, with a large battery, but it should however allow to finely adjust the pace to make the most of the camera, located in height relative to the rest of the chassis. The shooting equipment would be mounted on a foot, controllable and articulated, secured to a second platform. Platform which seems to be able to absorb shocks thanks to all the suspensions present at its base. Finally, it is a safe bet that the size and material of the tires also play a role in reducing vibrations.

This type of device could be used by the general public but also by professionals or even the army or the police to explore places inaccessible to drones, to make small reconnaissance missions, or to control works in complex structures.

A new Ronin device?

Another patent found in DroneDJ's research is an action cam in a gimbal. It is undoubtedly a Zenmuse model, which seems to be embedded in a device of the type gimbal, very sophisticated, with large pieces of Ronin-SC. Thus, filming from all possible angles while remaining as stabilized as possible would be, for her, a walk in the park.

It is a safe bet that it is possible to interchange the cameras with others of the brand according to the desired use. And the quality of the sequences that we want to shoot.

As our colleagues from DroneDJ, the detail and precision of the patents published suggest that the all-terrain vehicle and the filming device are likely to see the light of day in the coming months. Perhaps not in the form we have just described, but surely with similar features.

With this imposing vehicle, DJI would expand its fleet of terrestrial solutions. Also remember that the Inspire 3 and Mavic Pro 3 drones are expected for this year at DJI. 2020 is likely to be very busy, both in the air and on land.

As for what could be the new Ronin, it would enlarge the pages of the catalog of accessories for Action-cam and would no doubt be compatible with a number of camera models already released by DJI. Not counting those to come.
