A very original health home camera

Silk Labs Sense is a small smart health connected surveillance camera for the health home. As useful as Nest's Dropcam, the Silk Labs Sense offers a design that is quite… original, not to say special enough.

Silk Labs Sense was created by Silk Labs, a start-up that was founded by former Mozilla CTO Andreas Gal. The latter sees his product as an opportunity to offer something different. Sense and Dropcam necessarily have a lot of similar features, but the first one offers some notable differences.

First, Silk Labs Sense is able to recognize multiple faces and can therefore be used to find out if strangers have entered your health home. This face detection will also allow you to play musical playlists according to the people who are present in the house. Another difference: Sense works with third-party hardware, such as Sonos speakers and smart health connected bulbs. Finally, the biggest difference is more than visible since it is about the design. The design of the Sense is designed to blend with your decor. This camera is supposed to be "something you are happy to put in your living room," says Andreas Gal.

Andreas Gal, who left the Firefox team in 2015, aims to create a whole new platform for the Internet of Things. "We are not a hardware sales company." He hopes that this smart health connected camera will interest developers since the Sense software will be open source.
