Acer continues to believe in it with the Liquid Leap +

Acer wants to continue to believe in its beautiful star. Despite the resounding failure of its Liquid Leap Smart Activeband (the name does not help …), the Taiwanese has just announced at MWC 2015 the release of an updated version of his smart health connected bracelet. Called Liquid Leap +, the physical activity sensor is close to the classics of Garmin, Microsoft and even Samsung.

On the technical side, communication is done in Bluetooth 4.0 with the main operating systems: iOS, Android and even Windows Phone. With the exception of the Fitbit line (and Microsoft products), few smart health connected wristbands are currently compatible with the Microsoft OS. In addition to physical activity and sleep, the Acer sensor will also be able to display the main smartphone notifications such as emails, SMS or calendar. The user will also be able to control the music on the phone directly from their wrist. It is also one of the few bracelets smart health connected to be IPX7 certified, so it is capable of being immersed in water, without any limits.

Liquid Leap + has a touch screen

Another originality highlighted by Acer is the Liquid Leap + OLED touch screen. which therefore removes any button presence to view all of the measured data. Reasonable in size (1 inch), it will allow the user to navigate easily thanks to the "swipe" system. If it was to be compared to its predecessor, it is mainly on the more refined design that it stands out. The choice of colors available, the adjustable and interchangeable bracelets and the thinner curves are a positive development to its offer. The fact remains that the device is still quite gadget-like, and that it is much less elegant than the latest activity sensors, like the Jawbone UP3 which should be released soon.

Acer plans to market the Liquid Leap + by the end of the month in Europe, Africa and the Middle East at a price of € 79. The price seems reasonable when compared to the competition. It remains to be seen whether the Europeans will take the risk of engaging with Acer. However, no release date in the United States has been announced.
