Airthings Wave – A smart health smart health connected object that monitors indoor pollution

Today I'm going to talk to you about the Airthings Wave, a small smart health smart health connected object designed to monitoring the quality of the indoor air in your health home or apartment.

Airthings Wave is about the size of a smoke detector. Its surface is adorned with tiny holes and has an LED ring in the center that shines in different colors to indicate air quality. A pair of sensors is located near the bottom edge. This small health home automation object is powered by a battery and communicates by Wifi.

The Wave from the Norwegian company Airthings comes with two AA batteries. When you receive it, you just have to remove the tab that comes out of the battery compartment and pair the device with your smartphone. The Airthings app then guides you through setting up the product. Once smart health connected, you can mount the Wave on a wall using the bracket and screws provided. For more precision, it is not recommended to position it towards openings.

It takes about an hour after installation to get your first reliable scan. To get the pollution level, just wave your hand in front of the Wave. The indicator ring will turn green if your air quality is "good". If it is yellow, it means that the pollution level is above average. Finally, red means that you must quickly take action to reduce your pollution levels.

The Airthings Wave app allows you to monitoring pollution levels more closely, downloading the latest data whenever your phone is near the device. The health home screen displays the same ring light as the device. Here you will find information on the temperature, humidity and average indoor pollution level for the past 24 hours.

By swiping to the right, you can get a long-term view of each of these air quality elements. You can also display the average levels for each; for the last 48 hours, the last week, the last month or the last year. In each case, a graph of values ​​is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Airthings recently added IFTTT integration. Currently, there are half a dozen applets available that extend the capacity of the device. For example, you can flash your Philips Hue bulbs in red or receive an email when indoor pollution levels are too high.
