Alta HR – The new Fitbit tracker – Wearable – IoT

Fitbit’s new Alta HR activity tracker is more of an upgrade from an older model than a new product, per se. This small smart health connected bracelet offers an update on heart rate monitoring.

The Alta HR therefore welcomes new heart rate sensors. As a reminder, the Alta is one of the brand's "elegant" trackers. It has an OLED touch screen and has a battery with five days of autonomy. It is able to track your activity and your sleep. It also sends you notifications from your smartphone. Finally, it continuously monitors your heart rate.

The Alta HR is therefore the fourth product line from Fitbit which includes heart rate sensors; we had the Charge, the Blaze and the Surge that were already equipped with it. If these sensors only arrive today inside this product, it is because the brand was working with Texas Instruments in an attempt to reduce the size of its heart rate monitoring; a size which would correspond to the size of this bracelet which is 25% smaller than the Charge 2. By the way, this new opus will see its autonomy pass from 5 to 7 days.

To improve its product, Fitbit also added more detailed sleep tracking data. To date, users only had information regarding the length of their sleep. From now on, they will be able to have information on their movements, the variability of the heart rate, the stages of REM sleep and to know if lights interfere with their sleep.

This new version of the Alta bracelet costs $ 150; or 20 dollars more. It will be shipped in early April. It’s also in April that the new sleep monitoring software will be launched for this bracelet but also for the Charge 2 bracelet and the Blaze watch. FYI, the old Alta bracelet will still be sold; just like the Flex bracelet.
