Amazon Key allows delivery people to unlock your door!
Twelve years ago, Amazon launched Prime, a subscription service that provided members with free two-day delivery in the United States. Today, Amazon goes even further with the Amazon Key.
Amazon Key aims to speed up and further facilitate the delivery of your packages. The Amazon Key service is based on Amazon’s new Cloud Cam and a compatible smart lock. The camera acts as a hub. The latter is smart health connected to the Internet via your Wi-Fi. The camera is compatible with Zigbee and can therefore work with many smart health connected objects.
When a delivery man arrives with a package, he scans the barcode and sends a request to the Amazon cloud. If everything is in order, the cloud grants permission by sending a message back to the camera, which begins recording. The delivery man then receives a notification on his application which allows him to unlock your door. He then deposits the package and closes the door. The customer will receive a notification that their delivery has arrived, as well as a short ehealth showing the delivery process to confirm that everything has been done correctly.
The system works with locks from Yale and Kwikset. The other part of the system, the camera, is as I told you, made by Amazon. Amazon’s Cloud Cam is a central part of its Amazon Key service. Working with Alexa, Amazon plans to sell Echo + Cloud Cam bundles and offer a subscription service for customers who want ehealth archives and advanced health home monitoring
Note that some American customers of the brand can now pre-order the Cloud Cam. The Amazon Key app and delivery service will be available on November 8. For 249.99 dollars, you will receive a pack including a smart lock, the smart health connected camera and a free installation.

But all of that raises a big question, though: Will Prime customers trust Amazon to monitoring their homes 24 hours a day and find out when it is possible to unlock their doors to a perfect stranger? And will the advantage of having your packages delivered quickly and securely outweigh the privacy and customer security concerns?
