Californian manufacturer Zepp has established itself in the smart health connected sports market, with its activity trackers dedicated to golf, tennis or baseball. Today, the San Jose firm takes a new step with Zepp Play Soccer, a box dedicated to activity monitoring for football.

This small module is supplied with a leggings, and fits securely in the footballer's sock. Its weight of just 7 grams makes it quite discreet. The player will not be disabled at all by this device. Like other products showcased by Zepp Labs in the past, this sensor transmits statistics in real time via a smartphone or tablet.

Precise and detailed information

The accessory is designed to be worn on a player's main leg. It measures the distance traveled, the sprints performed, the average speed, and the success rate of the shots. The Assists and shots are also differentiated by the speed of the kick. Its battery provides 40 hours of autonomy.

Presented legibly on a timeline, the information can be read by the wearer at the end of the match. The player as well analyze their performance with precision and progress with each training while working to correct their weaknesses.

A sensor capable of tracking team play

Multiplayer options allow team members to combine their Zepp sensors to assess their collective performance. With these options, it is also possible to analyze the statistics of the opposing team.Through the companion app, a spectator on the bench can record ehealth clips and tag events like a goal scored, or a yellow card awarded by the referee. These ehealth clips can be shared on social networks, or viewed from the timeline.

This device is not as complete as the real-time coaches offered by Zepp in the past. However, its high price at 99.99 dollars makes it an affordable object to allow players to get additional performance information. Zepp Play Soccer is available now on the manufacturer's official website.

Zepp was founded by Jason Fass in his garage in 2012. Today, the company delivers more than 1,000 sensors every day. According to its creator, in a few years, all sports equipment will be smart health connected and equipped with sensors. Zepp Play Soccer is no doubt a step forward in this direction.
