AP-HP Launches Mobile Solution for Chronic Incontinent Patients

The NeuroSphinx rare diseases healthcare network, housed at Necker Hospital for Sick Children (AP-HP), has launched a mobile application for chronic incontinent patients: Poop & Pee. Presentation.

In France, despite the lack of data on this subject, it is estimated that almost four million people suffer from chronic urinary and / or fecal incontinence. This incontinence can be partial or total. Its manifestations are variable depending on the people and the pathology of origin. Whether it is the result of an obstetric trauma, a prostatic intervention, a rare malformation or a neurological disorder, incontinence can affect individuals of all ages and all sexes.

Contrary to popular belief, this population is not exclusively made up of elderly people. As with all chronic diseases, patient monitoring is a major issue. For the diagnosis and monitoring of incontinence, the collection of information on the frequency of stool and urine by the patient is essential through a calendar.

This is why the rare diseases health sector NeuroSphinx launches the mobile application Poop & Pee which is presented as a digital calendar for monitoring stool, urine and possible leakage emissions, intended to facilitate the exchange of data between the patient and his doctor, adapt the treatment to improve cleanliness, help the diagnosis and encourage the patient to become an actor in his health. Created on the initiative of Dr Crétolle, pediatric surgeon at Necker Hospital – Sick Children AP-HP, the application was designed by a multidisciplinary team made up of doctors, patients, psychologists and digital specialists.

Poop & Pee is a digital stool and urine tracking calendar coupled with a record of food and drink intake. The patient enters data relating to their cleanliness (stool and urine) and their meal intake (drinks and food) via the mobile or web application. The doctor can then monitoring the data remotely, from his computer via a secure web platform, in order to set up an adapted therapeutic strategy. The data are presented in the form of graphs that can be personalized according to the patient's pathology.

The Poop & Pee application is a fun tool, with an attractive and ergonomic design, encouraging the patient to play the game of diligent filling of their data. It pursues several objectives: improve patient care, refine its monitoring and diagnosis, improve its quality of life, and allow data retention and better history.
