Last night in France, Apple orchestrated high mass around its products. In addition to a new and expensive Mac Pro, WWDC has highlighted the new features of watchOS 6 and Apple HomeKit.

The Cupertino company is continuing to develop its smart health connected products. We think here mainly different versions of the Apple Watch. The Californian company took advantage of the WWDC to present built-in features in the update of its WatchOS 6 operating system. Obviously, health remains Apple's priority.

Jeff Williams, Chief Operating Officer of Apple, says:

"Apple Watch is central to the lives of our customers every day. It helps them stay smart health connected with people and information that's important to them, and encourages them to live healthier and more active lives. "

An alignment on Fitbit

To do this, the firm highlights the Cycle Tracking and Noise apps, as well as the Trends feature of the Activity app.

Cycle Tracking borrows one of the great features of the Fitbit app: monitoring menstrual cycles. Thus, women can record information to anticipate their next periods and periods of ovulation. WatchOS 6 makes it easy to take notes daily about the flow, the symptoms, or to associate the results of the ovulation prediction devices. Cycle Tracking is also compatible with the iPhone Health app with iOS 13.

WatchOS 6 takes care of your ears

After following the rules, Apple wants to collect data on the hearing of its consumers. The Noise app available on WatchOS 6 is used to detect sound levels exceeding 90 decibels. The wearer of an Apple Watch is notified when the environment is noisy.

This sound level meter provides protection during concerts, sporting events or transportation journeys. According to WHO, exposure of four hours per week to a level of decibels above 90 affects hearing. Similarly, Apple's press release recalls that studies show links between hearing loss and cognitive decline. None of the sounds are recorded or sent to the California company.

In addition, the Trends tab of the Activity application makes it possible to visualize sports practices and other physical activities more quickly. In case of a decline over a period of 90 days compared to last year, the app offers personalized coaching. The idea: put the user back on track.

WatchOS 6 stands for autonomy for the Apple Watch

The other big new feature offered by WatchOS 6 brings direct access to the App Store from the Apple Watch. There is no longer necessarily need to have an application and its twin on the smartphone. The developers thus gain their software in autonomy. For example, they can stream music, radios and podcasts.

Similarly, an API can extend the execution time of tasks based on sessions. In addition, WatchOS 6 offers new dynamic dials, the integration of the Dictaphone app, the reading of audiobooks, a Calculator app. It displays Siri requests for entire web pages, or the greater compatibility of Gymkit with different sports equipment.

smart health connected cameras and routers soon compatible with HomeKit

In the same vein, Apple announced at its WWDC conference the compatibility of HomeKit with new smart health connected objects. The smart health home platform now supports cameras Arlo, Logitech, Netatmo, and Eufy. The company introduces the HomeKit Secure Video API. Videos are analyzed on the associated Apple product such as the iPad, HomePod or Apple TV. Then the files are encrypted on iCloud, a rather secure cloud. The service includes notifications and 10 days of storage without it encroaching on your safe.

Finally, HomeKit compatible routers will be marketed by Linksys, Eero and Spectrum to create a firewall for your smart health connected objects smart health connected to the health home automation platform.

Clearly, Apple plays finely. The Cupertino company wants both to help its customers improve their health, to help them better secure their smart health connected equipment while offering them services that provide recurring revenue.

The WatchOS 6 update is available as a pre-release since the evening of June 3rd. The new features associated with the smart health connected watch will be deployed in the fall. For this, it will have at least the Apple Watch Series 1 and the iPhone 6s.
