Apple smart ring could soon see the light of day
An Apple smart ring could soon see the light of day. Lately, the brand has filed a patent that might suggest that.
This patent suggesting the development of a smart ring is in the same vein as old patents issued earlier this year; as well as in 2015. In these patents, Apple details a smart ring capable of interacting with other devices.
Such a smart ring would, of course, follow the first major development for the space of an established business, after Amazon launched its Echo Loop last October. However, if a possible Apple smart ring were to emerge, it would likely offer functionality similar to that of Amazon. That is to say, the ability to control smart health home devices by voice command. The smart health connected ring would essentially act, as described in previous patents, like a small Apple watch.
By exploiting components such as an internal processor, wireless transceiver, microphone and haptics, the "Wearable Electronic Ring Computing Device", as Apple calls it in the recent patent, would be able to track the daily activity, listen and provide information on orders and more.
However, as always with patents, it is important to emphasize that all of this is largely speculative. Although the brand is probably considering creating an Apple smart ring, it is one of the thousands of products for which Apple has patented.
It is not entirely unlikely that Apple will ever release a smart ring, although at the moment it does not seem to be the priority of the American giant. Without anything concrete apart from the patents, we cannot expect a commercialization in the next two years, at least.
