Apple Watch – Price, Release Date and More

The Apple Watch was announced without much information, but here is its release date, price, and many of its specs and features.

The Apple Watch will be available from the start of 2015. Apple had unveiled its Smartwatch on September 9th at the same time as its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Initially, we thought it would come out in February for Valentine's Day but that was just rumor. The month of March will most likely be its launch date and more precisely during the Mobile World Congress. In addition, Apple employees will be trained on the ride from February 9 to 16.

Besides the date, what interests us is the price. There will be several awards. The Apple Watch will start at $ 349 and will be available in two sizes (38mm and 42mm tall); the larger will be more expensive and will therefore exceed this starting price.

The Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition models will also be even more expensive. Indeed, the sports edition of Apple’s Smartwatch is designed to be more resistant with an Ion-X screen. Apart from the sports watch, the screen will be a flexible Retina glass touch screen (sapphire single crystal). Analyst John Gruber even estimates that the stainless steel version will start at $ 1,000 while the 18-carat gold version will start at $ 5,000.

Thanks to the release of Apple’s Developer WatchKit, we were also able to learn a little more about the watch itself and its features.

To stand out, Apple’s smartwatch will offer a square watch with rounded corners (much like the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus) as well as a dial on the side. With, it will be possible to zoom in on images or maps and scroll up and down web pages. It will also act as a health home button when pressed. A side button will allow you to access contacts or your communications.

The watch will be offered in several colors and materials (classic bracelet, stainless steel, aluminum, silver, 18-carat yellow gold, space black stainless steel, space gray aluminum and 18-carat pink gold). At the level of classic bracelets, we will have the choice among, at least 6 materials and finishes at the level of the hook.

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch wants to become an essential object in the life of its users, like the smartphone, by allowing them to also control their health home and their health. The watch will therefore take on board numerous sensors and chips to achieve this. It starts with an NFC chip that will make contactless payments through their iTunes account. These payments will be limited to € 20. It will also open doors, in a hotel for example, or take the metro. It will also allow the watch to be paired with multimedia devices. Of course, we will find in the watch four optical heart rate sensors protected on the back of the watch by a sapphire crystal. There is also an accelerometer, but no GPS, to keep track of your movements.

With the WatchKit for developers we were also able to discover applications. The apps will automatically send notifications to the watch. In addition to the native apps of the watch, you may be able to install apps from other publishers and therefore manage accessories (iDevices). To navigate between all the notifications you will receive from these applications, all you have to do, like on Android Wear watches, is to swipe them from left to right. In addition to browsing your watch by touching it, you can also talk to it and thus respond to SMS, emails, etc.

Apple Watch

Transfer is another feature of Apple Watch. Introduced with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, it allows you to start reading a message on one device and continue reading it on another. It will work on any device with these operating systems.

Of course, let's not forget HomeKit and HealthKit. The first therefore controls your house. You can manage your heating, doors, lights, etc. from your wrist.

The second will control your physical activity and therefore your health. There will be two modes: one for your daily activity and one for sport. The former will use, for example, the watch's accelerometer and barometer to track you daily. Combined with your height, weight and age, the analysis of the number of your steps will allow you to accurately measure the calories expended. The sport mode will accompany you during your jogging, your bike rides or the gym. Combined with your iPhone it will be able to map the routes marked, the distances or even plan the path to follow.

There will be no need to connect cables directly to the device. Charging will be done by a magnetic induction charger which is smart health connected to an electrical outlet. It uses MagSafe technology; the same as for Apple Macbooks.
