Asics Launches Smart Running Shoe Prototype

Asics has just presented a smart running shoe prototype at CES 2020 before; a release later this year.

The Asics ad is part of a larger brand ad set at the Las Vegas show; and presenting the projects on which she has worked in the laboratory in recent years. For example, she presented running shoes with low energy consumption. But the most intriguing is the still unknown prototype smart running shoes.

Asics Launches Smart Running Shoe Prototype

In collaboration with the Japanese startup No New Folk Studio – a company specializing in sensor technology – the shoes will be fitted with multidimensional sensors around the sole that record the movements of the wearer.

Combined with research from the Asics Institute of Sport Sciences, the company will be able to offer both real-time data tracking and analysis to help runners. Instead of receiving information about a wearer, Asics smart shoes will therefore be able to provide measurements on strike force, stability and more.

However, as this is only a prototype, there are still many things that we do not know. The pair on display at CES is actually Asics' Evorid running shoe. It was fitted with the No New Folk Orphe Track sensor.

So right now, we have no idea what they will look like. The fact that the technology has been customized to fit an ordinary running shoe prototype. However, Asics suggests that the shape does not differ too much from what we are used to seeing in the brand.

This pair of smart shoes is not the first that I present to you. However, this is arguably the most interesting development; in addition to the efforts of Under Armor.

Even better, we won't have to wait long to see them for real. Asics says more details on the launch will follow soon, with the launch taking place later in 2020.
