ASUS VivoWatch to be released in mid-May for € 149

ASUS today presented its new smart health connected watch, the VivoWatch, in Paris. We suspected from the first images that it was not a smartwatch powered by Android Wear. Finally, we learn that it will be a simple physical activity sensor.

The ASUS VivoWatch is therefore close to the Withings Activity Pop watch with a few more features. In addition to the “classic” physical activity and sleep that will be measured, we also learn that ASUS has developed a live heart rate tracking technology called VivoPulse. A little on the principle of the Mio Fuse that we tested, a small LED will also display in real time the level of heart rate: green if the effort is reasonable, and red in case of excess.

As we already learned earlier this month, the VivoWatch will last 10 days and be water resistant (IP67). All the measured information will then be sent to a mobile application (probably iOS and Android) and can be shared with those around you. ASUS has developed the Happiness Index which will reflect the quality of life of users. However, do not expect to receive notifications from your phone on the wrist like the ZenWatch, because this will not be possible!

The VivoWatch will be available from mid-May for € 149.
