Automatic connects your car and your Nest thermosat
Automatic, a smart driving assistant, got noticed last week at CES when it announced its partnership with Google’s Nest Smart Thermostat.
Automatic has indeed announced that it will add a new feature to connect your car to your health home. With this little object, you’ll be able to get your start in the era of smart driving. The integration of this new functionality allows communication between your car and the house thanks to cleverly chosen rules which allow the Nest Thermostat to understand when to heat or cool your house.
The work between Automatic and Nest mainly resides around APIs allowing to create rules this small sensor which connects to the car's computer and is used from a smartphone. The Nest Thermostat will learn from your car’s activity; and yours of course.
You can create custom rules, for example, when you return from the office. When you leave the office, the thermostat may start to heat your health home to reach your preferred temperature when you get health home. Of course, you can create filters for weekdays, weekends, holidays, etc.
Some additional information: Automatic is compatible with IFTTT, Jawbone, FordSync and SpotAngels. You can already check if your car is compatible via the link: automatic.com/cars. In the meantime, here is a little ehealth demo:
