Backup Memory Project helps Alzheimer's patients

Alzheimer's disease is an incurable neurodegenerative disease that causes loss of memory both for our loved ones and for the usefulness of everyday objects. All aspects of life being forgotten, the Backup Memory project intends to help people remember their loved ones.

A smartphone application

A platform allows all family members in possession of a smartphone to connect. Thereafter a geolocation system warns the patient of the loved one who is nearby in him providing his name, relationship and scrolling through some photos and videos which will allow him to remember the strong moments lived with.

Non-drug therapy for Alzheimer's

Maintaining a social bond with people suffering from Alzheimer's disease is a necessity. Having the tendency to cut off from the world to avoid the difficult moment when you no longer recognize your loved ones, giving them confidence is important.

It is also a useful application for loved ones who no longer have this painful need to remember the good memories of their family.

Finally, by stimulating the memory of patients, this system slows cognitive decline.

Samsung's takeover of SmartThings: endless possibilities

Two adults in the smart health connected objects courtyard. This purchase of SmartThings by Samsung could be the source of new technologies available to people with Alzheimer's.Indeed, it would be possible to envisage a comprehensive assistance and surveillance service for the health home and the patient. It would build on the technologies already developed by SmartThings and would therefore be based on a set made up of smart health connected watches, smart Tv and Samsung smartphones, etc. But is it really on the agenda ?

It would however be particularly useful to find in the homes of Alzheimer's patients, a smart health connected post-it, which will remind us of our meetings wherever we are, a smart health connected induction table, to facilitate cooking, a bottle of smart health connected water to think about hydrating, a smart health connected scanner so as not to forget half of the shopping, a smart health connected shower so as not to waste too much water, a smart health connected security device to reassure the patient who believes he is often persecuted, a smart keychain or better, a smart health connected lock so as not to lose your keys, a smoke detector, an energy controller, a water damage alert or a thermostat for their maximum ease of daily use and allow them to concentrate on the essentials…

Not yet presented in details, this application is promising, but an elderly person who uses a smartphone, this is already not common, suffering from a disease that affects the memory, this seems unthinkable … The release being expected soon, we just have to wait to see if the question has been considered by Samsung and if so, how does it deal with it?
