Basis formalizes Peak, its next smart health connected bracelet

[ad_1]

Basis which was bought by Intel for more than 100 million dollars has just announced the next generation of smart health bracelet, the Basis Peak. Sold for $ 200, significantly more expensive than the current competition, the bracelet in question will measure physical activity as well as the sleep of the wearer. For this new version of the B1 bracelet, Intel and Basis wanted focus on design (which is not really successful for my taste). Two models will be marketed, one in black with a black and red strap, and the other in gray.

Future competitor of Pebble?

Unlike current bracelets, the Basis Peak is closer to the smart health connected watch since it incorporates a LCD touch screen which will display information in real time as well as sensors to automatically detect movement. BodyIQ technology will determine whether the wearer of the bracelet marks, runs or bikes. Obviously, fashion being in gaming, at each sporting level reached (number of steps …), the user will receive rewards.

Under the cover, the bracelet measures precisely the 24/7 heart rate. Thanks to this measure, the Basis is thus able to determine precisely when you sleep (So it's not just a question of measuring movements like those of Jawbone or Withings competitors).

Basis Peak, heart rate

Side autonomy, the company announces a duration of 4 days for the battery (which is better than its old bracelet Basis B1 which lasted 2 days, but less well than the Jawbone UP24 which has 15 days of autonomy), as well as a water tightness.

In addition, the manufacturer is already posting its future projects on its website. He plans to display smartphone notifications on the screen using a Bluetooth connection: Messages, emails and calls will be displayed directly on the dial, a bit like Pebble. Except that where the Basis Peak stands out is on the quality of the screen: if that of Pebble is in e-ink (which slows down the display, but lengthens the battery), the Peak is in LCD ( faster). The price difference at the moment is $ 50, but the gap could narrow quickly if Pebble wants to stay competitive against Apple and Google smartwatches.

The marketing of this bracelet compatible iOS and Android will begin in early United States with some partners like Amazon or Best Buy. The Peak will also be available on mybasis.com. The UK and Canada are next, with deliveries by Christmas. No information on the availability of the bracelet smart health connected on the European continent was given.

And you, what do you think of this bracelet? Give us your opinion in the comments!
