Belkin announces new WEMO sensors

New on the side of WEMO sensors from the Belkin brand. The latter has just announced new sensors to enrich its range.

The Belkin WeMo sensor line is therefore expanding with sensors for doors, the WeMo Room sensor and for keyrings. The four new WeMo sensors are therefore part of Belkin’s already wide range of smart health connected objects.

The new devices are more geared toward health home security. The great thing about Belkin's WEMO line is that there are no subscription fees to add to fully use one of its devices; unlike security companies' solutions. These plug and play smart health connected objects connect directly to your smartphone.

The new door and window sensor uses magnets to alert you when a door or window opens. Nothing very new there, but if you already use WEMO devices in your health home, they will work in tandem with them.

For its part, the Keychain sensor acts as a digital tracking device. It alerts you when a person is coming or going, and could prove useful for parents who want to keep an eye on their children. It can also be used as a trigger: if you leave the house with it, it can turn off all your other WeMo smart health connected devices.

The WeMo smoke detector prevents fires and carbon monoxide. Finally, the WeMo Room Motion Sensor is a motion detector and warns when it notices movements and distinguishes those of humans and animals. It has a range of 9 meters, a 90-degree field of view and acts as a trigger for other devices.

Of course, since WEMO uses IFTTT, you can create small recipes to create automatisms or life scenes but also receive alerts in case of problems.

Belkin has indicated that these devices will be available in the second half of 2015. No pricing has been announced.
