Better manage your asthma with a smart health connected inhaler
Californian society LifeMap in collaboration with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (New York) have developed a application to monitoring patients with asthma. This application "Asthma Health Study”Is smart health connected to a sensor attached to the inhaler, it allows thanks to the geolocation to know where and when asthma symptoms arise. It therefore offers better management of this disease and one better medical follow-up. The sensor is to be purchased separately from the application which is free. The company offering the sensors also offers a similar, but older, application.
It is also possible touse the application with a basic inhaler, But data regarding the frequency of use of the inhaler cannot be taken into account. Some features like the calendar and the alerts for taking treatment still work. However, medical monitoring cannot therefore be carried out, it is only for personal use.
The application aims to advancing asthma studies by analyzing the location and air quality to find out the environmental factors that cause asthma. LifeMap also wishes to assist physicians by allowing them toadjust each patient's treatments based on the data collected by the smart inhaler.
One of the many positive points is the use of the data encryption for more confidentiality.
The “Asthma Health Study” application is available for free in English from the Apple Store and is compatible with Apple products. It currently operates only in the United States.
LifeMap is already working on other products dedicated to people with asthma, in collaboration with American researchers.
