Blocks Smartwatch – The ARA project for smartwatches

The Blocks Smartwatch is no longer a concept! After an impressive Kickstarter campaign, the company is ready to unveil the final version of the product. You’ll finally be able to pre-order and wear it by the end of the year.

The Blocks Smartwatch has been improved. It notably offers a new AMOLED screen, a stainless steel case and a new CPU. In addition, the design of the swappable modules has been improved for better comfort and the new plug-n-play system for the modules makes adding and removing blocks much easier.

The 1.39-inch circular AMOLED screen has a resolution of 400 x 400 and is protected by Gorilla glass. The screen is encapsulated by a stainless steel body that also hides a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor. Besides the CPU, the Blocks Smartwatch has 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of flash memory, a 300 mAh battery and is resistant to water and dust.

Speaking of battery life, don't worry, you can add as many additional battery modules as you want. Each battery module extends battery life by about 20 percent. However, the power of this watch does not come from its processor but from interchangeable modules or blocks. Here are the six available modules that you can choose from.

Smartwatch blocks – Modules:

1. Battery module: this module extends the life of the battery and can charge the watch, even if it is deactivated.

2. Button module: this programmable module can add a function to your watch, mobile phone, or other smart health connected devices in your health home or car.

3. Flashlight Module: it is an LED flashlight identical to that of your smartphone.

4. GPS module: the enabled GPS module allows the watch to know your position precisely.

5. Heart rate module: this is a sensor based on PPG technology.

6. Adventure module: this 3-in-1 sensor gives you information on humidity, air pressure and temperature.

Blocks Smartwatch – Price and availability:

The Blocks Smartwatch is available for $ 330. You will have the choice between three different colors: black onyx, red sunrise or white marble. For this price, you can also choose four modules from your choice. You will be charged $ 35 for additional modules.
