BMW and Qualcomm launch smart health connected glasses

BMW has announced the launch of smart health connected glasses for drivers of its Mini. These smartwatches with augmented reality are therefore direct competitors of the Google Glass.

BMW smartwatches will enable Mini drivers to receive navigation messages and advice. They will also allow easy parking. BMW is expected to present them at the Shanghai auto show, which runs from April 22 to 29, 2015.

Other features announced: the possibility of programming a trip, see the distance and duration of the trip. It will also be possible to see the speed limits. The brand even announces that it could one day equip its smart health connected glasses with a sort of X-ray vision showing pillars, doors and obstacles to facilitate parking.

On glasses, the images transmitted by the camera installed on the exterior mirrors will make it easier to park.

It all seems very interesting in any case. The prototype presented was developed in collaboration with the company Qualcomm.

As a reminder, BMW had already presented a technology at the start of the year, intended for smartwatch carriers, making it easier to park. Presented at the last CES in Las Vegas, the Remote Valet Parking Assistant combines lasers, sensors and cameras, with a database comprising multi-storey parking plans to maneuver safely and without assistance.
