Bodycap, a thermometer smart health connected capsule for medical operations

Founded in 2011 in Caen, the startup Bodycap offers a smart health connected capsule for monitoring internal body temperature in real time, during and after surgery.

The Bodycap smart health connected capsule is an accessory of smart health connected health of a new kind: she wireless and continuous measurement of body temperature and transmit it to an external monitoring or mobile terminal. Bodycap declines its technology in two versions: one for animals, called Anipill, and a version for humans, called e-Celsius. The animal version has been on the market since February 2014 and has been distributed to 15,000 copies.

The human version, e-Celsius will be offered from March and Bodycap plans to sell nearly 30,000 copies the first year. This smart health connected capsule measures 0.8 mm in diameter for less than 17 mm long but contains a temperature sensor, a microcontroller and a radio transmitter integrated. Made especially in France and Germany at Lacroix Electronics, the capsule is based on research carried out by the company NXP with the University of Caen. Thanks to this advanced technology, the product designed by Bodycap avoids wearing an antenna vest to recover the data collected by the product, as is the case for competing devices such as Minimeter from the American company VitalSens.

Bodycap's e-Celsius capsule has an internal flash memory to store 1,500 data measurement points. Bodycap counts 19 employees and aims to exceed the million euros in turnover in 2015, thanks to the launch of the human version of its e-Celsius smart health connected capsule.
