A wearable for a very popular sport

Combat sports and martial arts are sports that are widely known today, all over the world. Many activity tracker and wearable already exist to report on his efforts, his calories burned, or the improvement of his skills, but few are those who specialize in combat sports such as boxing.

Hykso, the wearable specially designed for boxers

Khalil Zahar, a student at the University of Toronto on micro-electronic mechanical systems and a boxer in his spare time, developed Hykso. Its purpose is to allow boxers improve and increase the power of their punches. Combined with his application available on iOS and Android, Hykso will analyze your skills and help you find the right area for improvement.

Khalil Zahar decided to use two performance monitoring sensors installed and fixed in the hand bandages, including a movement recognition and tracking system. The wearable then transmits the recovered data to the application, such as the number of strokes per round and per hand, their speed, intensity, and time.

The advantage of such a device is, that by accounting in a faithful and subjective way of the athlete's performance, the latter is more apt to be motivated and to surpass himself.

Hykso has already been used in high level boxing competitions and in gymnasiums.

The device, made up of its two sensors, also has a charging station and free access to the application for the price of 220 dollars, or about 200 euros. Hykso also exists in Premium version, in order to deliver more detailed performance data for athletes and their coaches.
