Braava jet m6 and Roomba s9 now work together
iRobot has refreshed its range of cleaning robots by adding a new cleaning machine to the mix with a new vacuum cleaner. The Roomba s9 vacuum cleaner and the Braava jet m6 are now designed to work in tandem to clean the floors of your house; without user intervention.
Last year, iRobot introduced a new feature for its Roomba i7 +. The robot vacuum cleaner was able to return to its charging station when the work was finished and empty its contents; in a sealed container that can hold the dirt from 30 cleanings. When this trash was to be emptied, the system notified the user via a smartphone application. The brand also introduced the Roomba 980 robot vacuum which can monitoring dirt and act on it.
Braava jet m6 improves cleaning even further
Again, this is an essential feature of the Roomba s9 + that has just been announced. But the company is striving to push automation even further by allowing it to communicate with another device in the range; the Braava jet m6. This means that the two smart health connected robots are in permanent correspondence on the progress of the work. They identify themselves indoors and outdoors as needed.
More specifically, users can launch one of these so-called “linked” cleanings via the iRobot health home application; by asking their robots to clean a single room or the floor of the house. The Roomba s9 + starts by vacuuming all the dirt and dust it contains thanks to a new powerful cleaning system supposed to offer a suction power 40 times higher than previous models.
Return of Roomba s9 +, departure of Braava jet m6!
Once done, the Roomba s9 + returns to its charging station and the Braava jet m6 cleaning robot comes into play. The m6 works a bit like iRobot's previous cleaning robots; users can attach a pad for wet cleaning or dry sweeping. In wet cleaning mode, the robot sprays water and chemicals on the floor in front of it and wipes it. Dry sweeping uses electrostatic force to collect dust and dirt.
When both tasks are complete, the Braava jet m6 also returns to its dock and the system sends a notification to the user's smartphone. Regular cleaning can be scheduled via the smartphone app. In addition, voice control is an option when robots are paired with Alexa and Google Assistant compatible devices.
iRobot also promises better performance from both machines compared to their predecessors. The Roomba s9 + is equipped with larger brushes and a new 3D sensor which, according to the company, will help it recover dirt in the corners; while the Braava m6 spray has wider edges for the same effect.
