Recalls on the Casio WSD-F20, the high-end watch for adventurers
An outdoor watch for all sports, with maps
The high-end WSD-F20 watch is one of the best outdoor sports watches on the market today. It is part of the PRO TREK Smart series, watches designed for lovers of the great outdoors. Finally available in Europe, it seriously competes with the excellent and very complete Garmin Fenix 5X which ships topographic maps of the continent where the watch was purchased (Europe, etc.).
The WSD-F20 offers numerous sensors and functions which are a precious aid for adventurers and demanding sportsmen. Multisport, it is particularly well suited to hiking, mountain and adventure sports, but also to water sports, fishing, hunting or even more classic sports such as cycling, swimming and running.
Its main strength is to offer topographic maps in color, downloadable and accessible via Google map. It has a very precise GPS compatible QZSS Michibiki (Japanese satellites) and soon GLONASS (Russian satellites), has a double layer touch screen of 320 x 300 pixels, one in color, the other in black and white for a excellent daytime visibility and very low consumption. It is very robust (military standard MIL-STD-810G) and exists with or without sapphire crystal. A microphone is used to send voice commands to the watch. At the level of the sensors, everything is there: altimeter, barometer, magnetic compass, GPS, gyroscope, accelerometer, sunrise / sunset times, tides, weather trend.
A horse riding watch
Casio works in partnership with EQUILAB, a popular and very well designed application for fans of horse riding. The application aims to help riders by informing them of their progress, helping them organize their outing and keeping them in contact with their team. The "riding watch" calculates how much energy the horse has consumed, its pace, the length of the steps, the number of steps, the speed, the time spent trotting, walking, etc. The application is sold separately from the watch.

New features of the WSD-F20X
Interchangeable straps
The new Casio WSD-F20X introduces a new system of interchangeable straps, like Garmin and its QuickFit system. It is thus possible to change the bracelet according to its activity.
A new fabric strap that can be worn over thick clothing
In addition to its original black polyurethane bracelet, the Japanese brand now offers a new fabric bracelet, long in size so that it can be worn on the sleeves of thick winter clothing. We can thus enjoy our watch without having to roll up our sleeves, especially when we do an activity where our hands are taken (skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering for example). The watch is delivered with the 2 straps.
A revised design and a customizable health home screen ("Place" application)
Casio offers a black watch (WSD-F20X-BK) with discreet touches of green on the bezel and the health home screen. But above all, the brand plans to offer a new screen customization system called "Place" which will be linked to the Google calendar and will use the functions offered by Android Wear (on-board OS). It will be possible, for example, to display a map including the location of the events scheduled in the calendar, or even the location where the user is located.
Furthermore, the user will be able to display other parameters such as altitude, pressure, battery level or data from Google or third-party applications. This new application will also be available on the WSD-F20 and WSD-F20S models once the watch is marketed.
Screens adapted to your sport
The WSD-F20X offers of course the same characteristics as the basic model, in this case a low-power GPS, the download of topographic maps in color with access wherever you are (no internet connection required once the maps are loaded in the watch).
With the Casio Activity app, the user can follow their ski or snowboard itinerary, know their speed and more.
Price and availability
The Casio WSD-F20X is offered at a price around € 550. The WSD-F20 model (offered below at i-Run) is available in France from € 499.
