[CES 2020] Renault takes its first steps in the smart health home with Otodo
[ad_1]
Renault wants to connect the vehicle to the house. The automaker announced at CES 2020 in Las Vegas to have entered into a partnership with the start-up Otodo. The goal is to be able to control the smart health connected objects of his house from the dashboard of his vehicle.
Two possible scenarios
Upstream, the user must configure in a dedicated application the smart health connected objects that he wishes to be able to control from his vehicle. Then, two scenarios can be realized. The first, "leaving health home", allows you to put your house to sleep when the person leaves their health home: the thermostat is turned down, the shutters go down and the lights go out. The second, "arriving health home", conversely, can wake up his house.
These two scenarios can be activated from the vehicle dashboard, but it is also possible to define a perimeter around his house from which (when crossed) these scenarios apply automatically. If the smart health connected objects of the house can be controlled from the vehicle, it is also possible to send information or commands to the vehicle from his house via a smartphone or a smart health connected speaker, such as a route for example.
Which smart health connected objects are affected?
This solution will be available later this year in several European countries, most likely including France. This applies to Renault vehicles equipped with the Easy Link system: the new Zoé, the new Clio and the new Captur.
Otodo ensures the connection between the vehicle and the health home as well as its security. The young French shoot is at the origin of a technological platform allowing remote control of various smart health connected objects. The two partners do not yet specify which brands of objects are affected by this solution. But it is likely that the products Great, Somfy or Bosch are in the list.
And the vocal?
As early as 2017, Renault had displayed its desire to make the vehicle an extension of the house with its Symbioz concept car. This concept was not thought to communicate with a smart health home but to exchange energy and information with the house, and serve as a backup battery for the health home in the event of a power failure. By joining forces with Otodo, Renault is taking the first step in making its cars an extension of the house, at a time when voice assistants are also trying to make their way into the passenger compartments. We think in particular of Amazon who would like the car manufacturers to embark Alexa in their new models.
