"When we talk about games, we think more than console or smartphone." Faced with this observation, Barbara Sapik Širocká wanted to reintegrate the pleasure of physical objects into everyday life. Without drawing a line under technology. With her start-up STYL (Smart Technology You Love), founded in June 2017, she has developed a smart health connected pen to stimulate the senses that are too little today. "Spinity fights this scourge of passivity", she indicates to The Digital Factory.

B2C AND B2B USE CASES

Inspired by the discipline of pen spinning, the device connects with a mobile application available on iOS and Android. Three modes of use are then proposed: training to learn how to handle the object and work on its dexterity, a challenge to confront other members, as well as arcade games based on movement control. "All are based on a technology of our own design and which recognizes accelerations or rotations", explains the president of STYL.

The main advantage of the device lies in its ability to make the "hand-brain connection". And it offers convincing results, to believe the young Parisian shoot: "There’s a reduction in anxiety, improved focus, and better responsiveness." In fact, the algorithm developed by STYL is only a transposition of the various medical findings made in recent years. But it highlights the hope for the advent of smart health connected objects.

Initially, Spinity will target the B2C market with the core target gamers and the 16-35 age group. Ultimately, the product will also seek to attract professionals. "There is a lot of potential in B2B. We are already starting to imagine use cases in the fields of education and health", points Barbara Sapik Širocká. Such a tool could, for example, have its place in the context of functional re-education sessions, which require training in motor skills.

AVAILABILITY IN SPRING 2020

The Spinity pen will be sold in Europe, to United States and in Australia from spring 2020, "less than 100 euros per unit". The mobile app will be included. This Wednesday, December 11, 2019, STYL signed a contract with the Advans group. The aeronautical and electronics specialist, who now incubates it, should lend him a hand in the industrialization of his product … and invest via a crowdfunding campaign which will be launched soon on Kickstarter.

It is with this in mind that she will go to the CES in Las Vegas, which will be held from January 7 to 10, 2019, accompanied by Business France. "There is obviously a visibility issue for us, underlines Barbara Sapik Širocká. This is a major event, which also motivates the teams. " Its teams, the start-up will also inflate them. Following her crowdfunding, she will recruit salespeople to transform the Review and engineers to develop use cases in B2B. And, thus, prove what he said: "By infusing technology, something as trivial as a pen can come back to the top."
