Checkpoints Race is the first smart health connected global competition, I understand, via an application, you will enter a 5-month competition where you can participate from any place in the world, while keeping your favorite running application!
A social running competition
It is therefore a competition which will start on May 11 and whose registrations are open via an indiegogo campaign. The goal is to bring together a team of 5 people, who, using a smartphone application (Strava, Garmin, Nike +, Runtastic and Runkeeper), will allow you to accumulate points (EnergyPoints) for each of your outings.
These points are calculated based on the number of km traveled, speed and elevation. They also plan to earn more points via challenges, the Hurry Up, an example is a notification which is sent to you at any time and which asks you to synchronize an outing of 1km via your running app in the hour, which will earn you points.
You will also be able to challenge other teams (One-on-One), the Checkpoints Race app finds a team of the same level and off we went for a week of challenge. The winning team collects the losers' points. And all smart health connected objects are welcome in the competition.
A badge system is also provided in order to animate the competition within your team, like the badge of the best performer or the most regular. The competition that will last 5 months (May 11 to September 18) will have a final on September 25 at Alpe d'Huez with the 50 best teams, a 24 hour relay race with 12 checkpoints to pass, which will result in elimination each time ("in the end there will only be one!", I'm sure you recognized the film, otherwise I'm already too old ^^).
In summary we have here an idea that I love, a competition open to all and for all levels. The final will be organized if they find enough competitors, but even if they do not reach their goal, I want to register (advice to amateurs, I am looking for 4 motivated people, do not hesitate to contact me in the comments ;-)), because if the goal is not reached, a virtual final will take place.
Participation costs 13 dollars (65 dollars / team), the application will be available on 1st April in English and French. It is also possible to register solo and join 4 other people at random which allows you to also meet.
