Cityzen Sciences would raise € 100M for its smart health connected clothing

In its latest study, the American research firm Gartner promises smart health connected clothes a very bright future, with more than 26 million units sold in 2016. And obviously, he is not the only one to think so since French Cityzen Sciences is about to raise 100 million euros for its smart health connected fabrics.

After Sigfox which raised a similar sum for its network dedicated to smart health connected objects, it is therefore another French who is projected on the front of the stage for his technology. The Lyon start-up made a good impression at CES 2014 where it was invited by Ubifrance. Since then, Cityzen Sciences has worked on a range of smart health connected t-shirts integrating various physical activity sensors, GPS and heart rate monitors like its D-Shirt, itself machine washable. The latest great achievement from Jean-Luc Errant, founder of the company, is the partnership with the equipment manufacturer Asics. Another partnership with a Japanese this time would be under discussion. According to sources, Cityzen Sciences is also working on autonomous sensors capable of transforming heat into energy, like the project led by Koreans.

Several players in the French textile and electronics landscape have joined forces in the Smart Sensing industrial program to bring to fruition this technical feat that could well restart the French textile sector in great difficulty in recent years.
