A connected glass to fight against the dehydration of the elderly
Dehydration is a major problem for seniors who forget to drink or no longer feel thirsty. However, a connected glass like that of Auxivia could fight against the dehydration of the elderly.
It’s scientific. With age, the feeling of thirst is less present and older people often forget to drink. Yet it is a necessity for the human body. That’s where the technology comes in, supporting the body’s capabilities.
Senior connected glass
Auxivia: a drink connected to retirement homesYou have to drink 1.5 liters of water a day. This is what doctors recommend as a minimum. If this happens, it can have serious consequences for your health: tiredness, dizziness, disorientation, coma. The French start-up Auxivia thus helps the most fragile with the help of a connected glass. He has everything to help the older ones. A flared shape to allow easy handling, the choice of plastic to resist falls, etc.
Its base has a light that becomes bright if you do not drink enough. Thanks to a motion sensor, the glass can even know if the water has been spilled. This connected glass is recharged on a simple tag and automatically transmits the data. For now, this is not a gadget designed for individuals but rather for retirement homes that offer them to their residents. At present, 50 structures have adopted this connected object for seniors for 900 patients. The cost is about 8 euros per month per resident. A very light cost when we know that it can now save lives.
