For several hours now, 5 men have set off on a smart health connected oar for crossing the Atlantic. Their challenge? Reach South America in less than 50 days. Enough to give desires to all lovers of the ocean … and technology.

An international challenge for such a small boat

They are 5, are English, are named Mathew, Oliver, Jason, Aldo and Ross and embarked on a journey of more than 6,000 kilometers across the Atlantic. The purpose of the “Team Essence"Is to establish a new world record, aboard a rowing a bit special because smart health connected. A challenge: a smart health connected rowing to communicate and share their journey

Their itinerary is as follows: departure from Lagos in Portugal, arrival at Macuro in Venezuela. They will therefore cross from one continent to another, with an oar measuring 8.5 meters long and only 1.2 meters wide, with the main objective: break the world record currently set at 52 days. The boat, equipped with a sophisticated communication service, can be followed and monitored by sending position data every 20 minutes. They will also have access to phones, to communicate with their families or to make emergency calls. Their smart health connected device will also give them access to weather reports or medical advice.
