The students can customize their studies to a high degree: As technicians, they learn to understand the processes in the healthcare system. As health experts, you will adapt to the requirements of information and communication technologies. In particular, they learn how to collect and process health data, design healthcare interfaces and create prototypes, or evaluate patient engagement based on evidence. Together, the master students work on a digital healthcare project for four semesters. For example, mixed reality visualizations in radiology or sensor-based systems for gait rehabilitation are created. Students can choose from two Choose specializations: Healthcare Technology Development (conception and development of technical solutions for healthcare) or Healthcare Technology Assessment (evidence-based evaluation of digital technologies and media in prevention, diagnostics, therapy, rehabilitation and care).

Modules and content

The master's degree is based on methods and goals of student-centered and problem-based learning. Much of the content is developed in the context of projects, since the focus is on the ability to act.

Digital healthcare: Project and problem-oriented learning process in interdisciplinary groups (technicians and health experts) over the entire development cycle: idea generation, conception, Review, evaluation and optimization, documentation and exploitation.

Research, development, innovation: Deepening of skills in an interdisciplinary context for idea generation and development, research, quantitative and qualitative analysis methods as well as in innovation processes. The master thesis is also assigned to this module.

Fundamentals in Medical Issues / Healthcare Technologies: Basic teaching of the respective other department.

Healthcare Technology Development specialization: Mediation of specialist skills for the conception and specification of technical solutions for the healthcare sector.

Healthcare Technology Assessment specialization: Mediation of specialist skills for the targeted evaluation of digital technologies and media in prevention, diagnostics, therapy, rehabilitation and care.

Healthcare structures and processes: Knowledge acquisition of structures, processes, general framework conditions and objectives in national and European health care.

Economy, law and management: Acquisition of general and subject-specific competencies in business, law and management, calculation and accounting, law in health care, leadership skills, quality management and medical marketing.
