On the occasion of the inauguration of its Health Tech Center, Doctolib announced the launch of its teleconsultation service. Presentation.

To develop new services, online medical appointment specialist Doctolib has opened an innovation center with around a hundred engineers, gathered in a single place of more than 1,000 m² in the heart of Paris: “Health Tech Center ".

The objective is to make this place an open space on the outside and to regularly bring together health professionals, patients, representatives of health authorities … to build innovations that will help transform our health system. Doctolib plans to open a second "Health Tech Center" next year in Berlin, which will also have around 100 engineers.

"Within the framework of "My Health 2022" we are pursuing a clear objective with the Government: to put the patient at the center of the system and guarantee access to care everywhere in the territory. The acceleration of the digital shift in healthcare is eagerly awaited by patients and healthcare professionals and players like Doctolib are helping to make France a leader in this area. This new Health Tech Center strengthens our lead in health innovation, for care more suited to the needs of patients and a more optimal organization for healthcare professionals"Said Mounir MAHJOUBI, Secretary of State to the Prime Minister, responsible for Digital.

Launch of a teleconsultation service

Teleconsultation is the natural extension of Doctolib. After having contributed to the development of online medical appointment scheduling, Doctolib is diversifying its services in favor of access to care with the upcoming launch of remote consultation.

Doctolib developed this new service with 500 partner practitioners before offering it to its 60,000 user health professionals from January 1, 2019.

Stanislas NIOX-CHATEAU, Co-founder and President of Doctolib, believes that “teleconsultation is obvious. This is obvious for practitioners, who will work in more flexible and comfortable conditions, better value their medical time and improve the care of their patients. This is also obvious for patients, who will consult their practitioners more easily and more quickly. With 20 million patients each month and 60,000 partner practitioners, we have a unique opportunity to improve access to care and to make France one of the pioneers of teleconsultation in the world.. "

Doctolib's teleconsultation service respects the principles defined by Health Insurance and the liberal medical unions. On the one hand, teleconsultation will not be the only method of consulting the doctor: it will be integrated into the current practice of practitioners, who will be able to alternate between physical consultations and remote consultations. On the other hand, except in the exceptions provided by Health Insurance, teleconsultation will only be offered to patients already known to practitioners, whether generalists or specialists, and will go through the attending physician. If the patient hasno attending physician, Doctolib will refer him to the nearest coordinated care facility.
