The calm after the end-of-year ehealth game storm is usual, synonymous with fewer game outings. This did not prevent us from selecting 4 titles that stand out, to occupy both your fingers and your neurons.
Shovel Knight: King of Cards
Available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, but also PS3, Wii U and even 3DS and PS Vita
Third and final extension of the excellent 2D platform game Shovel knight, King of Cards has the good taste of always being free for owners of the original game. Although you can also buy it separately, you might as well play the first chapters before getting into the shoes of the King Knight for this new adventure, since it involves going through the levels of the original game again. All the subtlety actually comes from the gameplay, expertly reworked to match the new specifics of our hero in golden armor. Indeed, this one does not fight with weapons, but with blows of shoulders by charging his enemies, before bouncing on them to finish those who are still standing. A mechanism that also works on sets, King of Cards not forgetting the platform aspect with a level design impeccable. He also did not forget the humor along the way, the adventure offered being even more tasty than the previous ones on this point. Of course, the feeling of deja-vu is inevitable, despite the addition of new worlds and bosses, but the set is sufficiently renewed not to turn too much to the impression of already-played. As a big bonus, a card game intelligently completes the 6 hours (at least) of the main adventure, for a title that ultimately offers very solid content with its 3 extensions.

Life is Strange 2
Available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One
The second episode of Life is Strange changes context to make us control the fate of Daniel and Sean, two brothers fleeing to Mexico after being accused of the murder of a police officer. It is therefore from Seattle to Puerto Lobos that we must make the right decisions by controlling Sean, the eldest. Always focused on a story with several branches, Life is Strange 2 can even less rely on its gameplay, absence of powers of Sean requires, but offers a captivating story with 4 endings that depend on our choices. Nothing like us to chain the episodes as we would with a good TV series, with the difference that this time we are active in front of our screen.

Dr. Kawashima's brain training program for Nintendo Switch
Available only on Nintendo Switch
While we were beginning to think that he had been able to retire – the lucky guy -, Dr Kawashima was still well in activity and preparing for his return to Nintendo Switch after stopping over on European 3DS in 2017 (5 years after the Japanese version). We were starting to wonder about the age of our brain! So we are reassured, the assessment of our cerebral capacities was able to resume beautifully with this Dr. Kawashima brain training program reserved for the Switch. If the contributions of the Switch version are not transcendent, the infrared recognition shows that it is not a gadget and everything ultimately works naturally. Again, this is not the kind of game on which we will spend all our evenings, but its didactic and progressive side encourages us to dive in at regular intervals, in order to keep our gray matter in good shape, as we know it. would do for our muscle tone with a weekly sports session.

Boneworks
Available for PC headsets (Steam), € 24.99
Already advised in our selection of the best VR games of 2019, Boneworks Truly gives the impression of going through a (very big) technical demo than playing a real "finished" game. This is because the title of Stress Level Zero is based on an unusual process, in particular for a VR game: making the physical engine the central element – and almost even the unique spring – of its game design. Constantly asking the player to improvise with the objects he has on hand as much to fight his enemies as to unlock his passage to the following playing areas, this is an organic title, inexhaustible creator of situations, remarkably innovative in this which he proposes in terms of mechanisms of locomotion and manipulation of objects. All this still lacks a bit of narrative and "polish" to achieve a fully convincing experience, but Boneworks remains an exciting title to browse. To be reserved, however, for veterans of virtual reality: neophytes could feel lost in the face of such complexity.
