DrData launches "Isalid", its 100% health blockchain

"We started to work on this solution and to get closer to the actors of the health ecosystem from the beginning of 2019," explained Nesrine Benyahia.

"Thanks to our functions as data protection officer (DPO), we work on impact analyzes during data exchanges and transmissions. The question that comes back is that of knowing where this data goes all the way through the chain of transmission and how to make sure they are removed, "she added.

Faced with issues of information for the person, the collection of their consent (opt in) and the exercise of their rights, in particular to object (opt-out), the management of these rights remained confined to paper and without traceability, no guarantee either on the effectiveness of their exercise.

If data collection is not under control, sharing it with industrial players, for example, does not guarantee the traceability of the life cycle of data, whose anonymity is increasingly criticized by academics and Researchers.

To respond to all these issues, DrData has therefore developed its own smart contracts, which allow to act on the structure of the stored data and to trigger actions (creation of a patient, doctor profile, addition of medical data, opening of an access, etc.) provided that several criteria are met (data formatting, compliance with access rules, etc.).

"All digital health software applications and software should be equipped with these technologies to ensure the ethical use of the data they process in the context of the provision of their services, a competitive advantage that is important," said the founder of the start-up.

"We have combined the legal side with the technical side to offer the most complete and reliable solution possible," she added.

An already tested solution

The "Isalid 'blockchain is thus intended for healthcare establishments, research institutes or any other institutional, and digital healthcare companies.

"Already experienced with a patient association, the solution will soon be tested with liberal paramedical professionals in the Ile-com-France region," announced Nesrine Benyahia.

Besides the execution of smart contracts, DrData also offers a data hosting solution, via a certified "health data host" (HDS) partner, whose name the general manager of the start-up has not disclosed.

Pending a deployment on a larger scale "by September 2020", the young shoot is working on its economic model.

"We are working on a mixed formula: a subscription to access the solution and a user fee because we do not want to charge users if they do not use it. The price will be conditioned to the size and means of the structure, "said Nesrine Benyahia.

"In health, there are a multitude of different actors, which makes it difficult to find an economic model," she noted.

A flagship trend in e-health in 2018, the blockchain in health experienced a slowdown in 2019. In question, a "lack of knowledge of the subject", estimated the general manager of DrData.

"It is a complicated technology and whose health actors have not necessarily understood all the potential. We just want to demonstrate that our technology applies to all cases and that blockchain: it works when we work on uses ! ", she concluded.
