Ember ceramic cup lets you drink hot coffee
Launched in the United States some time ago, Ember has just unveiled its smart ceramic mug in Europe. Ember offers its cup at a price of 99 euros; which is not cheap. But you will see, once you have used it, you can not do without it!
How the Ember ceramic mug works
First, you need to install it, which already sets it apart from a classic mug. You probably don't have to download an app when you buy a cup from IKEA.
If you have an Android smartphone or iPhone, you need to download the Ember app, then turn on the cup by pressing the power button on the base.
Once the application is downloaded, it guides you through a fairly simple configuration; allowing you to choose your LED color preference (there is a light at the base). Also, you can choose the ideal temperature for your hot drink in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.
Once it's done, just prepare your drink and let the cup take care of the rest. The cup has sensors capable of detecting movement. She also knows when it is empty and at what temperature your drink is; and therefore if it needs to be reheated.
In addition to being able to choose a custom temperature with the app, you can choose from a number of presets for different types of hot drinks; like green tea, coffee with milk or black tea, for example.

Should we use our smartphone to use the Ember ceramic mug?
Technically, it doesn't have to be. Basically, the Ember Ceramic mug is predefined to keep your drink at a constant temperature of 54.4 degrees Celsius. That said, if you don't have a smartphone with the app installed, there is no way to customize the mug to your preferences. You cannot change the temperature or adjust the color of the LED light.
How long can the Ember ceramic cup keep my drink warm?
The Ember Ceramic mug comes with a load plate, or "coaster" as the Ember calls it. It looks a lot like a saucer that you would use with a classic cup. Inside, there are two gold contact pins; which perfectly match the rings on the underside of the cup.
This base is used to charge the battery. So while the cup is on the baking tray, your drink stays warm indefinitely. Far from its charging base, the battery inside the cup should last about an hour; before the LED starts to flash red, indicating that it needs to be recharged.
Specifications, availability and price of the Ember ceramic mug
Ember Ceramic is available in black and white, at a price of 99 euros on the Ember.com site. A relatively correct price even if this price is a little high compared to a classic cup.
Can I put the Ember Ceramic mug in the dishwasher?
Given the nature of its operation and the need to operate small electronic parts, the Ember Ceramic cup should never be put in the dishwasher. It should be hand washed only. Ember recommends using a soft sponge to keep it clean and wiping it after each use.
