Environ skincare: the mother of cosmeceuticals

[ad_1]

Environment skincare. This brand started my ‘cosmeceutical career’ a few years ago. A whole new world opened up for me when I was introduced to these products. I have been able to achieve a lot in the field of skin improvement with this. I have since switched to other brands. But still, I still think this brand can be useful. Especially for the starting cosmeceutical user with sensitive skin. Read why below.

Environment skincare

Environ is a brand that originates from South Africa. It was developed in the 1980s by the plastic surgeon Dr. Des Fernandes, who ranks among the top 5 best plastic surgeons in the world. The brand can be considered as the very first ‘cosmeceutical’ in the world. From the beginning, (derived) retinol and vitamin C were used. In short, a real pioneer in the field of skin care.

Active substances

Environ Skincare uses various active ingredients for its products. That is to say: substances that can really do something for your skin. Think of vitamin C and all kinds of peptides. But they also use retinol and its derivatives. Retinol is converted into vitamin A acid, which in turn ensures firmer skin with fewer wrinkles. No use is made of mineral oils and no or little parabens. When I started using the Environ products, my skin became softer, but also firmer. In addition, pigment spots faded and lines appeared less quickly.

Special ritual

If you opt for the complete line of Environ, then there is also a whole ritual involved. First you use special cleaning agents: a pre-cleansing oil and then a cleansing lotion. Followed by a moisturizing toner to restore balance in the skin. You should also use an ‘Alpha Hydroxy Cream’ a few times a week. This is a glycolic acid. It promotes the permeability of the skin and thus the effect of the products. With all these products you prepare the skin for what is to come: the finish with the cream.

The step-by-step plan of the Environ Skincare

Environ uses a well thought-out step-by-step plan. The percentage of the (derived) retinol and other active substances is built up step by step. As a newcomer you always start calmly with the AVST line. Starting with the so-called AVST cream No. 1, which contains a low percentage of derivative retinol. If #1 is empty, you can start #2. This already contains a slightly higher concentration. The ultimate goal is AVST No. 5. But not everyone achieves this because not every skin can withstand such high concentrations.

Retinyl Palmitate

The AVST products use retinyl palmitate. This is a derivative of Retinol, aka Vitamin A. There is a lively discussion about this ingredient. Some believe that this form of Vitamin A could actually harm your skin. Others point this to the land of fables. Its proponents swear high and low by the skin-rejuvenating (and safe) qualities of Retinyl Palmitate. Just so you know.

retinol

Once the AVST step-by-step plan has been completed, you can switch to ‘the real thing’, ie products with pure retinol. The line with retinol also consists of a step-by-step plan; 3 in this case. Retinol brings you a little closer to the ultimate in facial care.

My Experience with Environ Skincare

My experience with Environ is good. For me it was an ideal method to get acquainted with the concept of ‘cosmeceutical’. I had quite difficult and blotchy skin, which reacted quickly to products. With the calm, constructive step-by-step plans of the AVST line, I was able to slowly get my skin used to the active ingredients. After I finished the bottle of my AVST 5, I stopped using the retinol products. I switched to another brand with retinol; Dermaceutic. The reason for this is that I believe that there are better active ingredients in it.

I have also changed the rest of my skincare. See the special about my beauty routine if you are curious which products I now use daily.

Alpha Hydroxy cream

I still recommend the alpha hydroxy cream from Environ, because it has a relatively low percentage of glycolic acid. It contains 5%, which is ideal if you don’t want to stimulate the skin too much. It also contains lactic acid, which removes dead cells and moisturizes the skin.
