Epson presents its Pulsense and Runsense ranges

After the printers, Epson is now looking to diversify into… activity sensors! The Japanese group has just announced the release of a range of smart health connected bracelets called Pulsense as well as the range Runsense, GPS watches. If the second product is largely intended for an audience of runners, the Pulsense is clearly intended for the general public, with the possibility of measuring the distances traveled, calories, sleep or even the heart rate (a Pulse O2 bis?).

Features of the Epson Pulsense bracelet

There are two models for the Pulsense, the first being the PS-100 and the second being the PS-500. The main difference is in the display information on the bracelet: while the PS-100 is close to the Nike Fuelband SE (display with LEDs), the PS-500 incorporates an LCD screen that clearly displays each of the information, including a watch.

The two Pulsense smart health connected bracelets are smart health connected to a smartphone by Bluetooth Low Energy, and an application called Pulsense View. From there, it is also possible to activate the vibration on your bracelet for smartphone notifications. The PS-100 model will go on sale later this month for £ 129.99 (about € 156), while the PS-500 will cost € 204. Both are clearly in the high market range, with the Fitbit Flex (83.50 € on Amazon), the Jawbone UP24 (99 € on Amazon) and the Withings Pulse O2 (119.95 € on Withings.com) far behind. They will be available later this month.

Pulsense and Runsense

The Epson Runsense range is composed of 4 GPS watches, including the SF-810 which will include a heart rate monitoring. Each watch has a customizable screen and will be able to display up to 35 measurements, such as the rhythm, laps, speed or calories burned. It is especially in terms of customization that the watches stand out, not really in terms of technology. The SF-310 is the basic model, followed by the SF-510 which measures strides, then the SF-710 which adds training programs, an altimeter and a vibration system.

The connection will then be made in Bluetooth with the Run Connect application on mobile, or on Runsense View (web interface). They will all be available later in the month (only the SF-810 will be sold in November at £ 299.99, or € 360): The SF-310 will be sold £ 150, the SF-510 £ 190 and the SF-710 at 230 £.
