Epson Runsense SF-810 Watch: Review, Features and Price
[ad_1]
Hello sports friends! The Runsense SF-810 should interest you, with its heart sensor and GPS monitoring. The team tested it for you to ensure its reliability.
Introducing the Runsense SF-810
The Runsense SF-810 is part of the Spy Runsense range which brings together 5 models of GPS smart health connected watch dedicated to running. The watch we present to you today is the latest addition to the range and has a cardiac sensor that its precursors were lacking.

An all plastic box (unboxing!)
The advantage of this type of box is clear, you have a direct visual on the product. The watch is pretty well presented and you can easily see the thickness of the dial.
In terms of the information on the box, the least we can say is that Epson has not sprained. At the front you have a series of not always very explicit thumbnails to detail the functions, and at the back you are informed that the AC adapter for the charger is sold separately and the compatibility of the watch with the different smartphone models.
You can easily get the watch out of its plastic case, and immediately the softness of the bracelet surprises. The rubber is very nice. The watch face seems proof against your running outings in the rain.
The charger is quite discreet and rather practical (if you are looking for it, it is hidden inside the cardboard base). The watch clips very easily onto it.
Design and ergonomics
Immediately the impression is confirmed, it is a watch very comfortable to wear which easily makes you forget its presence. However, I am far from being a watch lover, especially because of the lack of comfort in the watches that I have had the opportunity to wear. The dial is quite imposing and the watch takes up space on the wrist.
The design is not very sought after, but the light gray shade that surrounds the cord stands out a little from the deep black of the whole and makes it stand out. The LCD screen is easy to read and apart from in the middle of the night, you don’t have to turn on the screen to see anything. The buttons on the watch are easy to use and won’t hurt your fingertips. However, it would have been even better to make larger buttons, like that of the “LAP” function for more comfort. The watch has a sporty look, she is there to accompany you in your jogging sessions. Usefulness during the day comes down to the heart sensor and the time display. The design is therefore not there to integrate into everyday use.
Mobile app
The app dedicated to Runsense watches is Run Connect. If I was rather pleasantly surprised by the object, its application does not work in its favor.
Compatibility : The application is available from iPhone 4S and for Android smartphones from version 4.3
Log in : Bluetooth 4.0
The design of the application is far from being a success, Do not be scarred by words. At first glance, theapp doesn’t seem to be up to par at alle. And unfortunately the rest comes to confirm my statements.
To pair your watch, simply enter the application, enter the “pairing” category and activate the Bluetooth connection with your smartphone by continuously pressing one of the 4 buttons on your watch. Take advantage of this stage because it is the only one that is almost pleasant. For the rest, these are countless information asked of you not always very easy for a novice runner, like defining your heart rate thresholds. It is a watch made for experienced runners, and its application is affected. A little more color and modernity in design would have been desirable for a better user experience
Getting started and adaptation time
As much to tell you right away, this is not the criterion that will come to save the Runsense SF-810. I tried to configure my profile and settings from the watch itself. It is possible in theory, but in practice it is an eyesore. To navigate the watch functions, you must of course use the 4 buttons on the watch face. Where the difficulty comes in is that theyou never really know which button to which function. The use is not at all intuitive, and after 3 days of using the watch, I still cannot use it smoothly.
You imagine that while you run, the use becomes horribly complicated. I would like to clarify before going into the details, that I am not a regular runner, and that I normally use the Runtastic application in pro version.Well I quickly regretted my application. I like to be aware of my performance in real time, especially when I set a pace goal, but the Runsense SF-810 will not be able to accompany you That much. You should not expect any source of information from it during the race, except for the number of kilometers covered. At no time did I hear the watch warning me that I had just crossed a kilometer or that I was going too fast for the race pace that I had set for myself. In short, a cruel lack of notifications and monitoring during the race.As for GPS, the signal was completely wrong and made me leave almost 300 meters from my real starting point!
I was particularly curious when I received this watch to be able to Review the interval function since I am a follower of the fractional. Unfortunately, where my Runtastic application warns me of the different intervals, or when I’m not going fast enough, there is nothing. I started the interval program and the watch didn’t speak to me at all.
Last but not least, the watch has a heart sensor. After running for 6 minutes, and stopping to see what the data visualization looked like, I realized that I had no information about my heart rate! In short, a huge disappointment for my part which led me to shorten my jogging to put away the watch immediately in its box.
Ease of use
A watch aimed at runners who already have a regular stride. For others, go your way.
Feature reminder

Connectivity: Low Energy Bluetooth – Bluetooth 4.0
Tracking: Pace tracking, stride length calculation, heart sensor, GPS tracking, …
Conclusion
Epson with this product was aimed at the high end, and trying too hard to make the watch turns out to be far too complicated to use. In a smart health smart health connected object, the user experience must be paramount, and it seems that with the SF-810 Epson has forgotten this aspect, even if it is aimed at experienced runners.
What I liked : The watch itself is comfortable to wear, I find the charger practical.
What I did not like : The application, the reliability of the functionalities, the lack of notifications.
