Evry Sciences and Innovation: smart health connected objects

Telecom Sud Paris of Evry is an engineering school specialized in digital and which responds to current and innovative challenges. This Tuesday, March 29, 2016, the school organized a seminar on smart health connected objects: from the sensor to applications. What were the topics covered? Have innovations been presented? The Evry Telecom School at the heart of reflections on smart health connected objects

Our daily life is currently governed by smart health connected objects and the possibilities these offer us. Even if this revolution, a digital, economic and social revolution, has been underway for a short time, all areas are concerned today : health, safety, goods, services, and much more.

The purpose of this seminar was therefore to allow academics, industry and all stakeholders in the field present near the school of Evry d ’exhibit and share their skills, knowledge and experience in the digital and smart health connected objects sector.

Evry seminar: from sensors to applications

After a warm welcome and a word of welcome to the participants, the first speaker was Anis Laouiti, a young teacher at the Télécom Sud Paris school in Evry.

The latter addressed the deployment of sensor networks. The fields of application are more and more varied, and may as well range from medical monitoring to that of the building. In reality, this network can be seen as dynamic even if the sensors are static.

In the same continuity, several themes were addressed such as those of middle ware, soft ware and cloud computing.

Even more interesting, the speaker Christine Balagué from Telecom Management School D'Evry, presented the "Social Networks and smart health connected Objects Chair".

smart health connected objects allow you to new uses and new hybrid networks between human and technology. Thus, this Chair is a project which runs from 2015 to 2018, and which brings together several disciplines and partners such as the SEB or Huawei group, in order to design and develop smart health connected objects and innovative services which will not become obsolete in a few months, but whose usefulness will be sustainable and everyday.

This chair will develop in Evry and mainly on 4 main axes:analysis of the behavior of consumers of smart health connected and intelligent objects, in order to understand their perceptions, their expectations, their adoption and appropriation processes …; understand and revisiting User Experience Design, or the satisfaction and pleasure of the users to interact with an interface; to define a social framework for the Internet of Things, to study new social networks and smart health connected objects in order to develop new innovative services; and finally, understand the impact of cultural diversity on the behavior of users of smart health connected objects.

Once this intervention is completed, Raoul Mallart, director of innovation at SIGFOX spoke.

The latter presented the Sigfox network and its advantages. Currently developed in the Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland and the United Kingdom, this network already includes over 7 million objects. Its designers hope to see it expand outside Europe, to the USA or Asia for example.

Sigfox is a secure network, where each object has your own security key. smart health connected an object to the Sigfox network would cost for an individual to 1 to 10 euros per year, making it an inexpensive and efficient network. Designers are currently developing new services such as geolocation of objects directly through the network where the environmental detection thanks to the stations. 300 stations Sigfox have already been established on French territory.

Finally, the last speaker on the Evry school campus was Lauriane Nicol from the company Archimej Technology. She presented the smart health smart health connected object that this company has developed and which bears the name of Beta Bioled.

Archimej Technology is the company that invented the “spectroscopy 2.0“, That is to say the study of the decomposition of light, but in a smart health connected way. This technique is reused for Beta Bioled.

This object is a portable and smart health connected blood analyzer. It solves several problems related to blood tests such as medical deserts or travel for people with reduced mobility, and allows to simplify and democratize them.

This object allows you to analyze between 10 and 20 biological markers : cardiac, renal, hepatic … Just like glucometers, take a drop of blood, and place it on the tab provided for this purpose and place it in the optical analyzer. In a few minutes, the results are displayed directly on the application on your iOS or Android smartphone.

The results are expected to be easy to understand and share with his doctor. You will also be able to access your previous results.

The date of marketing of this object is not yet announced because the company is still expecting more than 8 million funds in 2016 to deploy its object on a large scale.

To end this seminar, a round table was organized with various speakers from the school of Evry and from outside, in order to discuss around socio-economic challenges of smart health connected objects : their uses as well as the legislative framework which surrounds them: framework which today is absolutely not ready to assume the future of our contemporary societies.
